Utility Surveys

Our utility teams use the latest Ground Penetrating Radar and CAT scanners to locate and map underground services. The routes of drains, previously assumed to be straight between manholes, can now be accurately surveyed on the surface by following the signal received from a transmitting probe floated or rodded through the pipe.

More About Our Underground Surveys

Using existing statutory records as a guide, we can locate services with a metallic content by applying a radio frequency to the cable or pipe. We can also trace non-metallic pipes with what’s known as ground penetrating radar. Once detected at the surface, our surveyors will locate the position with a total station or GPS.

Thanks to our use of the latest technology, our utility teams can now locate all below services, which can then be added directly to our existing topographical survey. The end result provides the highest quality above and below ground surveys.

By combining our land and utility surveys, you’ll not only be able to plan your above-ground development, but also steer clear of any below-ground complications.
