Underground Service Location
With the latest electronic tracing technology, we can locate and map underground services. The routes of drains, previously assumed to be straight between manholes, can now be accurately surveyed on the surface by following the signal received from a transmitting probe floated or rodded through the pipe.
Using existing statutory records as a guide, services with a metallic content can be located by applying a radio frequency to the cable or pipe. Non-metallic pipes can be traced with Ground Penetrating Radar. Once detected at the surface, our surveyors locate the position with a total station or GPS.
